The best sort of help

Saint Paul writing at a desk - Lambert Jacobsz or Jacobs They say that a writer has one of the loneliest jobs in the world. That your on your own. They're wrong. We're not doing this alone, in fact we can't.

We need friends and family. We need readers and fellow writers. But most of all we need heaven's help.

We need divine inspiration to send ideas to us. Good ideas, ones that mater. Ideas for the stories God wants us to write.

We need the grace to write the truth, to bear witness to the faith.

And sometimes we just need someone in our corner when writers block sends us scrambling for words.

The following prayers are ones I've found for writers or that I think can be for us. I admit that I don't often remember to pray before I write and consequently I don't get as much done as I should. I'm posting them here as a reminder to myself and for any one else who needs them.

One more note, as I am a Catholic I have included several prayers to Saints. I would like to clarify that Catholics do not worship saints as we do God, when we pray to them we are asking them to go to God for us, they are already in heaven and can intercede on our behalf. The full explanation would be too long for here but if you have any questions I would be happy to try and answer them, I ask that you be polite and only ask if you are willing to listen to the answer. If you object to praying to saints you can always skip over those and take a look at the others. Prayer requests are also welcome :)

Bless us, O Lord, and these your gifts, which we are about to receive from thy bounty.Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Breathe into me Holy Spirit, that all my thoughts may be holy. Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy. Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy. Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.
